The yellow fades as the flowers age . . .April 2008
Planted 60 in Fall 2007. Location: Front flower beds. Began blooming on March 23, 2008.

Tulipa 'American Dream'

Wow, this tulip is so beautiful. It is definitely my favorite of all of those that I have in my yard. It's a chameleon tulip--as it ages, it turns less yellow and more red. All of these pictures are from my garden (April 2008), and I've tried to put them more or less in order of how their color changes. Oh, one more great thing: they positively glow in the sunlight. I wish I'd put them in the front yard for everyone to see!

Planted 30 in Fall 2007. Location: North bed, between cherry and Hawthorn. Also near 'Oshio Beni' Maple in East beds.

Began blooming April 18, 2008.

Hibiscus

This is an unidentified Tropical Hibiscus that Chris and I brought back from our Honeymoon in Hawaii. It finally bloomed for the first time recently! The bloom is smaller than a normal hibiscus (2-3 inches across), and is fringed, which I've never seen.

Aster 'Elizabeth'

In bloom, Fall 2007
The flowers are a very vivid purple--more than this picture shows.
The crown (much bigger this year!), just starting to grow, March 2008.Planted 1 in Spring 2007. Location: Between Hawthorn and Maple.

Summer 2007
My California Poppies are mixed colors. I didn't actually know they came in colors other than orange, but that's what the seed packet said, and here they are! So far I've seen cream, several shades of orange, red-ish, and pink (which is also ruffley!).

Planted 1 seed packet in Spring 2007. Location: Next to the cherry tree. Began blooming May 17, 2008.

Juniperus chinensis 'Old Gold' (Juniper)

Buxus sempervirens 'Suffruticosa' (Dwarf English Boxwood)
