I don't know what cultivar this is. I ordered 3 plants, all of which were supposed to be red. One ended up red, and two ended up pink, so they are obviously a different cultivar.

March 2008. This tree has some branches at funny angles, which I need to prune.

March 2008. The blooms (which died from shock shortly after I planted the tree) seem to be really dark, which is good. I wanted purple leaves out front, but I don't really want pink flowers, since it would totally clash with my color scheme. This dark burgundy might be a good compromise. We'll see next year.
